Job summary

Cayuse Language Connect, LLC is seeking a Cantonese Dialects Interpreter to support court-related interpretation services. The role requires real-time interpretation, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity across a range of legal settings in the United States.

The position is part-time hourly, with on-call expectations and possible on-site assignments as needed by the courts. Fluency in English and Cantonese dialects is essential, with prior court interpretation experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• 3+ years of court interpretation, immigration, trafficking, hearings.
• Native or near-native fluency in both English and Cantonese Dialects: Guangfu, Guangxi, Siyi, Gao-Young, Yonh-Xun, Gou-Lou, Qin-Lian, Zhongshan.
• Familiarity with legal terminology.
• Ability to always maintain confidentiality and act impartially.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interpret spoken communication between parties in real time, preserving meaning, intent, and tone.
• Facilitate cross-cultural understanding by clarifying non-verbal cues and culture-specific concepts, when necessary.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality in all interactions, consistent with regulations and ethical standards.
• Complete required documentation, logs, and reports in accordance with agency and contractual protocols.
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, government customer policies, and codes of professional conduct.
• Other duties as assigned.
