Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a Budget Analyst in the Policy & Budget department. The analyst audits, monitors, and prepares reports for capital and operating budgets, reviews resolutions related to agenda items, and supports payroll planning and expenditures.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field, plus two years of professional budget experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible professional budget program experience.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Audits, monitors, and prepares reports for capital and operating budgets; reviews departmental budget proposals for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with regulations and objectives.
• Coordinates the annual budget process with assigned departments; reviews budget requests and prepares detailed payroll, operations, and funding reports.
• Analyzes submitted financial data; identifies trends and recommends solutions to correct deficits or reallocate funds.
