Evolvesquads inc. is seeking an experienced Google Cloud / BigQuery Data Lake Architect Consultant to design and implement a modern enterprise data platform for a large omnichannel retailer.

The role centers on defining target architecture, ingestion patterns, data modeling, security, governance, and an actionable implementation roadmap for a Google Cloud-based data lake / lakehouse with BigQuery at its core.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in enterprise data architecture, data engineering, or data-platform work.
• 5+ years of Google Cloud Platform experience.
• Hands-on BigQuery in production environments.
• Experience architecting cloud data lakes/lakehouses or modern data warehouses.
• Strong knowledge of BigQuery, SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT, pipelines, APIs, CDC, streaming, data quality, metadata, lineage and security.
• Experience with data governance within GCP and scalable data architectures.
• Ability to lead while staying hands-on with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design the Google Cloud data lake / lakehouse architecture with BigQuery at the core.
• Define ingestion patterns for batch, near real-time, streaming, API, file-based data, and DB sources.
• Develop a strategy to ingest data from SaaS and enterprise apps into Google Cloud.
• Establish raw, standardized, curated, and consumption data layers.
• Define enterprise data models supporting analytics, AI/ML, and GenAI use cases.
• Set BigQuery standards for datasets, partitioning, clustering, retention and performance.
• Create scalable patterns for historical data, CDC, and slowly changing dimensions.
• Define data quality, lineage, observability, and monitoring frameworks.
• Design security architecture including IAM, service accounts, RLS, column security, encryption, and PII protection.
