Job summary

South 8 Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Applications Engineer with a strong battery background to design, integrate, and optimize battery packs built with our advanced cells.

You will bridge customer needs and our technology, supporting design, validation, and field deployments. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of battery-pack experience, hands-on prototyping skills, and strong communication for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in battery pack design, development, and validation.
• Strong understanding of lithium‑ion cell behavior, thermal management, BMS integration, and safety considerations.
• Hands‑on experience building and testing packs, including prototyping and validation.
• Familiarity with pack standards, safety certifications (UL, UN38.3), and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead outreach and engagement with customers to understand technical requirements and provide design guidance.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers integrating our cells into battery packs.
• Support customer pack design, validation, and troubleshooting including electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects.
• Conduct application-level testing and validation to ensure pack performance and safety.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align product capabilities with customer needs.
• Develop technical documentation, design guidelines, and training for customers.
• Provide feedback to R&D and product teams based on field learnings.
• Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and design reviews as needed.
