Job summary

KellyMitchell is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain a core data platform powering its products. You will develop scalable backend services using Java and Kotlin, tackle distributed systems challenges, and collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve performance and reliability.

This remote, 3-month contract role requires a degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent, 2+ years in software development, and experience with REST APIs and cloud ecosystems like AWS or Azure.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications.
• 2+ years of programming experience with full-stack technologies such as Java or Kotlin.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable backend services for next-generation applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Solve distributed systems challenges while working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions with software engineers and product managers.
• Mentor junior engineers on code quality and industry best practices.
• Partner with product management and key business stakeholders to support the core data platform.
