Job summary

Ascend Technologies is seeking an Azure Systems Engineer for a fully remote role. You will design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure, automate with IaC, and collaborate across Agile teams to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions.

Responsibilities span migrations, container orchestration, and identity management. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cloud/infra, strong Azure expertise, and hands-on scripting with PowerShell, Bash, and Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of systems engineering, infrastructure management, or cloud operations experience, including 3+ years with Azure.
• Proficiency with ARM, Terraform, Ansible, and Bicep for infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience managing Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Deep knowledge of Azure networking, identity (AAD/Entra ID), security, and monitoring services.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and Git.
• Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
• Agile/Scrum collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Strong client-facing communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy Azure infrastructure components (compute, storage, networking, security).
• Build and manage hybrid and cloud-native systems using IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Implement automated deployment and configuration pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Ansible).
• Support modernization and migration initiatives including virtualization, containers, and Kubernetes deployments.
• Administer Azure Entra ID (AAD), SSO configurations, and identity integrations.
• Configure and manage Windows and Linux servers across cloud/on-prem environments.
• Monitor performance using Grafana, Graylog, Wazuh, and Uptime Kuma for high availability and security.
• Design, maintain enterprise network infrastructure (Cisco, Palo Alto, VyOS) with VPNs, DNS, firewall rules.
• Develop automation scripts in PowerShell, Bash, Python.
• Lead or contribute to migration roadmaps and modernization projects; mentor teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with architects, DevOps, and app teams.
• Communicate with clients to gather requirements and provide technical updates.
• Lead security remediation to meet compliance frameworks and implement Zero Trust controls.
