Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Solutions Architect Principal to lead Azure-based solution design for VA initiatives. This remote role reports to the Veterans Affairs department and focuses on secure, scalable cloud architectures, governance, and collaboration with BD, capture, and proposal teams.

The candidate will mentor engineers, define technical objectives, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards, security requirements, and timelines across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, deploying, and managing Azure infrastructure and services.
• Experience with large-scale, high-availability, and scalable cloud architecture.
• Extensive experience in core Azure services including VMs, Storage, SQL, VNet, Functions, Azure AD, ARM templates, Monitor, and DNS.
• Experience implementing Azure security services and best practices (Entra ID, DDoS Protection, Firewall, Defender for Cloud, WAF).
• Strong understanding of Azure networking (VNet peering, ExpressRoute, VPN, Private Link).
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, CLI).
• Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS, and industry standards for cloud security.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of complete Azure-based solutions meeting customer requirements.
• Coordinate with BD, capture, and proposal teams to optimize proposals.
• Assign and guide technical staff for pre-bid and proposal efforts.
• Design, implement, and govern secure, scalable Azure cloud architectures with enterprise alignment.
• Mentor engineers and ensure architecture governance and best practices.
