Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an Azure Data Engineer for a remote, contract role to modernize an enterprise data platform by migrating from on-prem Oracle/DataStage to an Azure data lake with medallion architecture. You’ll design, build, and optimize pipelines using Azure Databricks and Data Factory, ensuring data quality and scalable processing.

Strong SQL and Python/PySpark skills are required, with experience in batch ETL/ELT and lakehouse concepts.

Qualifications

Hands-on data engineering in enterprise environments.
Expertise with Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
Strong SQL and Python or PySpark development skills.
Experience in batch ETL/ELT pipelines and data quality.
Knowledge of medallion/lakehouse architectures.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
Support migration of data and ETL workloads to Azure cloud data lake.
Develop scalable ingestion, transformation, and data-processing solutions.
Design and implement medallion architecture across Bronze, Silver, Gold layers.
Build data-quality, reconciliation, and validation checks into pipelines.
Automate validation and testing to improve reliability of data products.
Troubleshoot pipeline failures and performance issues.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions.
Participate in code reviews, documentation, testing, deployment, and CI/CD.
