Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced MS SQL Server DBA L3 to support large-scale migration of SQL Server environments from on-premises to AWS. The role focuses on migration, performance tuning, high availability, and production support.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience and strong cloud experience with EC2, VPC, and Always On. This position is open to remote candidates located in the US.

Qualifications

8+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience.
Experience migrating SQL Server workloads to AWS or other clouds.
Strong knowledge of SQL Server HA/DR technologies (Always On, WSFC, FCI).
Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
Ability to create migration runbooks and validation checklists.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end migration of SQL Server databases to AWS.
Assess environments, backups, HA/DR, and readiness.
Design and execute migration, cutover, and rollback plans.
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server on AWS.
Troubleshoot performance, availability, connectivity, security.
Collaborate with application, cloud, security teams throughout migration.
