Job summary

Bluelight is a leading software consultancy actively expanding across the United States and beyond. We seek a skilled senior software architect to design low-latency service architectures in AWS and to lead architecture decisions across multiple projects.

You will work with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, build scalable RESTful APIs, and mentor engineering teams while aligning with security, compliance, and client expectations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development with 3+ years in an architecture-focused role.
• Deep experience designing low-latency service architectures in AWS, including judgment about distributed components.
• Experience designing audit/evidence systems: append-only event logs, versioned/bitemporal models, replay.
• Experience designing fail-open/fail-closed/degraded-state semantics and outage postures.
• Proven experience architecting secure multi-tenant environments with tradeoff analysis.
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Expertise in designing and building scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience architecting SDK integrations to other services.
• Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript across the stack.
• Experience establishing architecture standards, conducting reviews, and mentoring teams.
• Experience producing ADRs and architecture documentation.
• Experience presenting architecture decisions in client reviews.
• Experience working with AI coding assistants in daily development.
• Substantial background architecting large, complex systems end-to-end.
• Ability to overlap US business hours.
