Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an Application Cloud Engineer to maintain and enhance AWS-based apps and infrastructure. This remote contract role collaborates with development, operations, and security teams to ensure scalability, performance, and security. On-call rotations support 24/7 production systems and incidents; requires US citizenship or a Public Trust clearance.

Rate: $65.00–$70.00/hr (W2). W2 consultants receive medical, dental, vision, 401k with match, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS experience with cloud deployment strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using IaC (Terraform).
• Manage Amazon EKS Kubernetes clusters and node groups.
• Configure EKS networking and security groups for pods.
• Administer Kubernetes objects (deployments, services, configmaps, secrets, RBAC).
• Monitor production systems with CloudWatch and observability tools.
• Containerize and deploy apps using ECS and Lambda.
• Ensure deployments across dev, staging, prod are consistent.
• Improve pipeline performance and reliability.
• Run daily health checks via AWS CLI and Lambda scripts.
• Collaborate with Dev and DevOps to ensure stateless, fault-tolerant apps.
• Improve ECS scalability, auto-scaling, rolling deployments.
• Support feature branches and artifact promotion workflows.
• Enforce pipeline security and automated code scanning.
• Remediate OS, container, and dependency vulnerabilities.
• Orchestrate failover and restoration of ECS/EKS services and DBs.
• Test regional failover playbooks and recovery runbooks.
• Meet RTO and RPO requirements.
• Diagnose production issues across cloud services and CI/CD pipelines.
• Follow incident response playbooks and escalation procedures.
• Automate tasks to reduce on-call fatigue.
• Log incidents and metrics in tracking systems.
