Job summary

Seaport Scripps Home Health is seeking an Authorization Specialist to verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and handle related clerical tasks. This role supports intake processes, maintains accurate clinical records, and collaborates with providers and referral sources.

The position is full-time and remote, with a 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM PST schedule, weekend rotation or staggered schedule. Home health experience and knowledge of regulations are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in insurance eligibility and authorizations (home health experience preferred).
• Knowledge of information systems and corporate business management.
• Familiarity with governmental regulations.
• Strong communication and public relations skills.
• Ability to work independently with organizational flexibility and cooperation.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility and confirm payer sources for referrals.
• Manage the authorization process, including monitoring calls and requests from providers.
• Obtain and provide clinical information needed for authorizations.
• Communicate authorization status to field and scheduling staff.
• Provide backup support to Intake and Scheduling Coordinators.
• Protect patient and organizational confidentiality.
• Maintain knowledge of state, federal, and CHAP documentation regulations.
