The remote role involves drafting contracts, ensuring HIPAA and privacy compliance, and coordinating with a cross-functional team to protect sensitive health information.

The candidate should have a US law license, strong corporate law knowledge, and demonstrated ethics and judgment. The role offers remote work with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in the US is required.
• Knowledge of information privacy laws, access, release of information, and release control technologies.
• Experience in health information management.
• Proven experience as a legal counsel in a business environment.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law and procedures.
• Ability to create defensive or proactive legal strategies.
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
• Sound judgement and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist General Counsel & Compliance Officer with corporate strategic legal initiatives.
• Draft and amend contracts and templates for ongoing business operations.
• Address edits to healthcare contracts including NDAs, services agreements, and data exchange agreements.
• Ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations across the organization.
• Coordinate with audit teams for internal and external audits, including SOC audits.
• Respond to HIPAA violations and prepare necessary documentation.
