Job description

Your Job

Georgia-Pacific (GP) is seeking a motivated and inquisitive professional with skills in chemical, mechanical, manufacturing, or process engineering for a Remote Asset Engineering Lead role supporting our Corrugated Products division.

Remote Asset Engineers leverage data analytics and process expertise to identify emerging equipment and process issues before they impact production, providing facilities with early warning, diagnostic insights, and recovery guidance. They also support process optimization initiatives in cooperation with division resources to further enhance performance.

Individuals in this space will need sound technical and communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team to solve problems. Successful candidates are self-driven learners who proactively develop an understanding of manufacturing processes, engage subject matter experts, and effectively balance independent work with collaboration in a dynamic environment.

This role will partner with Corrugated leadership to define support strategies and success metrics and has potential to become a supervisory position guiding other remote engineers as engagement and business needs evolve. This position will be based out of our Collaboration and Support Center (CSC) in Midtown-Atlanta, GA where we remotely monitor performance of GP facilities across North America.

Our Team

The Collaboration and Support Center (CSC) team partners with our operating facilities across all GP divisions by providing collaboration and support across multiple disciplines of expertise to achieve scalable problem-solving solutions. The team uses the best available technology with an enterprise-wide approach and primarily focuses on Asset Health, Process Control, and Process Optimization.

What You Will Do

The daily routine to support operating locations is listed below, and the expectation is that the CSC team members will work together to support operations and cover for one another when needed.

  • Review assigned assets and processes daily to identify deviations, emerging trends, and potential failures; diagnose issues and communicate findings to site personnel
  • Work independently to identify optimization opportunities on areas/assets of responsibility and engage division SMEs on value and path forward
  • Collaborate with CSC teammates and strategic partners to solve complex operational and process challenges
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and advanced analytics to automate detection of emerging issues, generate actionable insights, and reduce manual analysis activities
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Engineering
  • 3 or more years of experience working within or supporting manufacturing teams
  • Experience presenting complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Experience using Power BI, OSIsoft PI, or other industrial data and analytics platforms
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% to operating facilities to build relationships and develop process understanding.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • 3 or more years of experience in troubleshooting processes or equipment in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • Process Control experience with DCS and PLC
