Job summary

Alaska Sea Grant, a program of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, seeks a Communications Specialist to raise awareness of its research, education, and outreach. You will build relations with stakeholders and the public while creating multimedia stories and managing social channels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marine science, fisheries, environmental science, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related role (experience in science or environmental communications is a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Raise awareness of Alaska Sea Grant’s research, education, and outreach initiatives.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, researchers, policymakers, and the public.
  • Produce multimedia storytelling content including video production and social media management.
  • Manage digital tools like CMS platforms and Google Workspace.
  • Collaborate in a team environment and prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven setting.
