Job summary

Commence is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to build and deploy ML models powering clinical and operational data products. You will handle data ingestion, feature engineering, and model evaluation under senior guidance.

You will work on productionizing models via APIs, batch, and streaming workflows while following HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and FedRAMP Moderate standards. This remote role emphasizes collaboration with data and software teams across healthcare projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in machine learning engineering, data science, or software engineering.
• Strong Python and SQL, with production-grade systems experience.
• Experience with ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Experience deploying ML models to production environments with senior engineering support.
• Exposure to AWS Bedrock, Anthropic, LangChain, or Databricks Agent frameworks.
• Familiarity with distributed data processing like PySpark, Databricks, or AWS EMR.
• Experience with ML lifecycle tools such as MLflow and model registries.
• Experience building APIs for model inference (FastAPI, Flask).
• Experience with healthcare datasets (EHRs, claims, FHIR).
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, train, and validate ML models for clinical and operational data products.
• Contribute to productionizing ML/AI models into APIs, batch, and streaming workflows.
• Support AI/LLM-driven workflows (document extraction, classification, summarization).
• Assist in Retrieval-Augmented Generation components and embedding strategies.
• Apply MLOps practices: CI/CD, model versioning, retraining workflows.
• Work with Databricks and AWS to support training and inference tasks.
• Monitor model performance and troubleshoot architecture-level issues.
• Collaborate with Data/Software Engineers to deliver components of AI/ML systems.
• Ensure HIPAA and other regulatory compliance in ML workflows.
