Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking an AI Engineer for a remote contract role. You will join as the second engineer in a small enablement pod, building and shipping LLM-powered features, including RAG pipelines and tool-calling, while collaborating with architects, product managers, and the AI platform team to deliver reusable capabilities and production-ready services.

You will work on Azure cloud deployments, develop APIs and UI components, and ensure observability and cost-tracking.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering
• Backend experience in .NET or Java with Python familiarity
• Hands-on experience delivering LLM-powered features (RAG, tool calling, prompts)
• Experience with Azure or comparable cloud, REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD
• Comfortable with React/Angular/TypeScript
• Willingness to learn new codebases within 6–8 weeks
• Preferred: Azure OpenAI, Terraform, Langfuse, LiteLLM, or similar
• Preferred: Event-driven architectures and payments exposure

Responsibilities

• Build and ship LLM-powered features including RAG pipelines and tool-calling
• Integrate solutions with the AI middleware platform and reusable components
• Implement evaluation and testing for AI outputs with test sets and quality gates
• Develop APIs, backend services, integrations, and UI components for AI features
• Add observability, logging, and cost tracking to deployed AI systems
• Pair with solution team engineers to enable independent AI feature development
• Document designs, decisions, and lessons to accelerate future teams
