Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Defense is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to design and deploy secure, production-grade AI solutions in Microsoft Azure for Navy/Coast Guard sustainment. You will build agents, automate quotes, and integrate with ERP/CRM systems in a GCC-High government-cloud environment.

The role emphasizes rapid impact, collaboration with executives, and secure use of AI tooling, with full remote work and no security clearance required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and supporting production software, automation, or AI solutions.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating applications in Microsoft Azure.
• Experience shipping LLM-based applications to production with RAG and tool calling.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with REST API design and secure auth.
• Git, CI/CD, and containerization (Docker) experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot).
• U.S. citizenship and NOFORN requirement; no security clearance needed.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy secure AI solutions in Azure for internal customers.
• Lead AI/automation projects with SMEs and coordinate with IT and engineering teams.
• Build AI agents, document processing, and automation workflows in production.
• Establish standards, observability, and ROI tracking for AI initiatives.
• Mentor developers and manage contract resources.
