Job summary

IllTip, a fully distributed, remote-first AI audio company, seeks a senior software engineer for the AI team. This full-time role can be done from anywhere in the United States and focuses on large-scale data pipelines that feed model training and new AI products.

You’ll identify new data sources, build reliable pipelines, collaborate with AI scientists, and own projects from problem definition through implementation and ongoing improvement while working autonomously in an open-ended environment.

Qualifications

• A degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and running production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations and take initiative.
• Must be located in the United States.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition, or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, especially GCP and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines that bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems, balancing data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to improve training datasets and support next-generation model development.
• Own engineering projects from problem definition through implementation and ongoing improvement.
