Job summary

Simple Technology Solutions, LLC is seeking an AI Application Engineer to build generative AI features and services for federal clients. You will develop on AWS Bedrock, leverage retrieval-augmented generation, and work with tool-using agents and prompt pipelines in a remote, travel-permitted role.

The role requires 8+ years in software development, a Bachelor's degree, and US citizenship with ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development including 2+ years with large language model APIs.
• Experience delivering with test-driven development and CI on AWS.
• Experience using AI coding assistants or agentic coding tools.
• Strong Python and TypeScript skills with API/web frontend frameworks.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, vector stores, embeddings, and prompt engineering.
• Hands-on with Amazon Bedrock and core AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to read Terraform and understand deployments across DEV/TST/STG/PRD.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship generative AI application features (retrieval-augmented generation, tool-using agents, prompt pipelines).
• Write tests from use cases and specs; ensure tests pass before PR.
• Develop on OpenCORA module architecture when used; build modules on core chassis.
• Build on AWS generative AI services (Bedrock, Lambda, etc.) as needed.
• Use Claude Code and team agents as primary development workflow; contribute improvements.
• Maintain audit trail from requirements to PRs with small, reviewable commits.
• Participate in backlog grooming; estimate work and identify requirement gaps early.
• Instrument apps with logging and tracing for AI evaluation in all environments.
• Review PRs with QA; support releases through DEV/TST/STG/PRD.
• Apply secure coding practices for federal workloads (secrets handling, input validation, least privilege).
