Job summary

UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a qualified accounting professional to join the System Accounting team. This full-time role focuses on accurate coding, recording and reporting of financial data while monitoring activities to ensure budgets and regulatory compliance.

You will develop and implement fiscal strategies, manage funds and journal entries, and support audits. Strong analytical skills and a Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• No licensure or certification required.
• If a Bachelor's degree: No prior experience required.
• If an Associate's degree: Four (4) years of experience in accounting.
• If a High School diploma or GED: Eight (8) years of experience in accounting.

Responsibilities

• Develops fiscal strategies to achieve goals and prepares financial analyses for planning.
• Manages specific funds, prepares reports, explanations, and schedules; monitors policy compliance.
• Monitors accounting transactions for accuracy; reconciles data to the General Ledger.
• Analyzes revenues and expenditures against budget; assists in planning budgets and objectives.
• Maintains accurate accounting records to comply with GAAP, GASB and FASB; supports system-wide initiatives.
• Processes journal entries including approvals and corrections.
• Assists with annual audit and ACFR supervision.
