Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, via Optum, seeks a remote ABA reviewer to collaborate with providers, review medical necessity for ABA treatment, and share autism education with parents and caregivers. This telephonic, queue-based role follows a 7am–7pm CST schedule, Monday–Friday, and allows remote work anywhere in the U.S.

You will coordinate benefits and guide care transitions. Required: active licensure (independent clinical license, LBA, or BCBA where applicable), 2+ years in behavioral health, and

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted clinical license (e.g., Social Worker, Counselor, Therapist, or Psychologist) or LBA or BCBA where applicable.
• 2+ years of experience in a behavioral health environment
• Experience working with children/adolescents on the autism spectrum
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook) and have a dedicated, distraction-free home workspace

Responsibilities

• Review diagnostic evaluations to ensure valid diagnoses.
• Obtain clinical information from providers on ABA treatment requests.
• Determine if additional ABA sessions are medically necessary under care guidelines.
• Manage outpatient cases throughout the treatment plan.
• Coordinate benefits and transitions between care areas (case management).
• Identify ways to add value to treatment plans and consult with facility/outpatient staff.
• Provide education and resources to parents/caregivers about ABA treatment and benefits.
• Quote benefits and provide referrals as needed
