With a focus on Chautauqua’s Christian heritage and an interfaith commitment, the Department of Religion offers various worship services and programs, including daily interfaith worship in the Amphitheater and active faith communities on the grounds.

About Your Compensation

The position's compensation is $17.50/hour.

About Your Work Day

The Religious Education Coordinator will focus on religious educational programs, including curricula development for children, leading weekly programs, and supporting interfaith and worship activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing weekly religious education curricula for children
  • Leading weekly religious education sessions for children
  • Supporting Department programming (interfaith lectures, classes, tours, etc.)
Spiritual Formation
  • Lead and support the Abrahamic Program for Young Adults, including weekly text studies
  • Coordinate multigenerational spiritual activities
  • Support weekly labyrinth meditations
Worship
  • Meet weekly with the worship team
  • Support weekday worship as needed
  • Provide hospitality, host guests, and support a welcoming atmosphere in the Department hall
Referral Program

Chautauqua offers a $500 referral bonus for successful hires who remain employed for at least 90 days (or 30 days for seasonal positions).

Schedule

Flexible, seasonal schedules starting each June through August, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, averaging 40 hours/week.

Living on Grounds

Limited housing may be available; candidates should assume no employer-provided housing unless specified.
