Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians to cover relief shifts in our Specialty services. The role involves anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery, radiography, and direct patient care alongside talented veterinary professionals.

You will work with a team to obtain histories, present treatment plans, monitor vital signs, perform procedures, and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Obtain detailed medical histories and present treatment plans.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Monitor vital signs including heart rate, respiration, temperature, blood pressure and SpO2; alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages (including CRIs) and administer meds via appropriate routes.
• Proficient phlebotomy and placement of IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other coworkers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
