BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians to support our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. This relief position includes shifts at our Summerville location, with pay $20.00 - $40.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Relief Emergency Veterinary Technician in a high-volume setting.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and monitor patients post-anesthesia.
• Comfort with triage, radiography, and critical care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia; operate anesthesia equipment.
• Triage emergencies; record vitals and communicate changes to Veterinarian.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Maintain knowledge of normal vital sign ranges and respond to abnormalities.
• Lead phlebotomy and place IV catheters; assist with feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train colleagues; address client concerns with empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Schedule: This is a relief position that will require working some shifts in our Summerville location.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
