Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is hiring experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians to occasionally pick up shifts in our fast-paced Emergency Department.

Pay: $19.00 - $38.50 / hour

This pay band depends on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
2. Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique, including correct patient positioning.
4. Understand normal ranges of vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
5. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the veterinarian to any changes or issues.
6. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
7. Calculate medical dosages (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
8. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
9. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
10. Mentor and train other team members.
11. Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
