Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA-accredited school.
• 3 years of experience practicing veterinary medicine with a heavy surgical load.
• Current veterinary license in good standing; Fear Free Shelter certification preferred or obtainable within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Performs sterilization surgeries, dentistry, and other surgical procedures.
• Oversees treatment of shelter animals, conducts medical rounds, and maintains medical records in the shelter database.
• Provides emergency care to injured animals; advises on adoption candidacy and when euthanasia is appropriate.
• Models Fear Free veterinary practices and supports staff in Fear Free techniques.
• Promotes safety and OSHA compliance; addresses safety concerns as needed.
