NorthEast Center for Youth & Families (NCYF) is seeking Relief Therapeutic Counselors for our Therapeutic Day Programs serving at‑risk youth. NCYF is seeking engaging, enthusiastic individuals for Relief Therapeutic Counselor positions within our Therapeutic Day Programs for at‑risk youth. The program runs Monday‑Friday, and counselors have the option to pick up 12:30 pm–6:30 pm shifts at any of the three locations.
Therapeutic counselors aid in the development of emotional strengths and life skills for individual youths by co‑leading therapeutic activities, community trips, and teaching and modeling age‑appropriate social and living skills. Successful counselors possess knowledge of appropriate behaviors for at‑risk youth, are skilled in crisis avoidance and intervention, and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. They must be able to assess, evaluate, guide, and redirect youth clients as situations require, and maintain accurate daily logs and paperwork.
Daily responsibilities include program organization such as cooking, shopping, and activity preparation, as well as providing transportation for clients to and from NCYF sites in agency vehicles. Additional duties may be assigned or requested by supervisors.
