Job summary

Pet Emergency & Specialty Center La Mesa, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking an experienced Relief RVT or Veterinary Assistant to join our team in La Mesa, CA. The role focuses on assisting veterinarians, managing outpatient treatments, and supporting diagnostics.

You will participate in anesthesia monitoring, client communication, and daily clinic operations. A strong background in triage and rapid care is preferred in this fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or RVT
• Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and injections
• Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and related equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care and educate clients
• Assist with surgeries and procedures per credentialed act and veterinary standards
• Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems
• Obtain health history from clients and update medical charts
• Maintain clean, sterile treatment areas, exam rooms and labs
• Mentor and support fellow team members
