Job summary

WinShape Foundation seeks a House Parent to provide safe, supervised, Christ-centered homes within the WinShape Homes program. You will support daily routines, meals, clothing, health reporting, and lead family devotional activities while modeling Christian faith.

The role focuses on meeting each child’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs, maintaining a calm, safe home, and partnering with House Parents and the HSP to implement care plans and ensure safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate to children and adults and support learning and development.
• Must maintain emotional health and meet health requirements per licensing standards.

Responsibilities

• Manages and supports the home structure set up by House Parents and participates in leadership home activities.
• Ensures children receive meals, clothing, and medical care as needed; reports accidents to the HSP.
• Leads and participates in church attendance and family devotions; demonstrates Christian faith in the home.
• Supports each child’s physical, spiritual, educational, and emotional needs; fosters a safe, conducive study/homework environment.
• Maintains discipline using approved methods and reports behavioral issues to House Parents or HSP.
• Ensures overall child safety, follows safety plans, and reports home maintenance needs as required.
• Supports WinShape Foundation/WinShape Homes vision and completes required trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager, House Parents.

Overview

Scope of Position:ReliefParents provide safe,supervised,loving, Christ-centered homes for children in the WinShape Homes program and guide childrenin support of the House Parentssothatthey may discover their unique and God-given potential.

Reports to:Manager, House Parents

Responsibilities

• Manages and supports the existing structure and routine set up by House Parents and isaware of each child’s needs within the home structure. Participates in and provides leadership home activities including leisure and recreation.

• Ensures child’s needs are met by providing well balanced meals, ensuresappropriate clothingis available and ensures medical care is provided as needed, while reporting accidents and injuries to the Human Services Professional (HSP).

• Participates and leads children in attending the House Parent’s church, leads devotional periods for the family, anddemonstratestheir Christian faith within the home.

• Supports the service plan for each child and ensures the child meets physical, spiritual,educationaland emotional needs and goals (sets up setting conducive to studying/homework,maintainsa relaxed and safe home setting, builds relationships with each child, plays an active role within the home)

• Is responsible forthe discipline of the children in care, handlesproblems properly and as privately as possible, and reportsto theHouse Parent orHSPanybehavioral issues.Onlyutilizesapprovedmethods other than corporal punishment in dealing with disciplinary matters, and supportsthe personal guidelines on discipline of House Parents biological children

• Is responsible foroverall child safety and supervision. Follows all safety plans, implements fire prevention procedures, completes fire drills as needed andawareof evacuation routes for the home.Reports any necessary home maintenance needs to House Parents

• Supportsthe vision, mission,core values,philosophyand structure ofWinShape Foundation and WinShape Homes inmeeting the needs of thechildren in carewhile following WinShape Homes Operations Manual

• Attends all trainings required by theManager, House Parents, WinShape Homes and the WinShape Foundation

• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by theManager, House Parents

Qualifications

Spiritual:

• A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis

• Exemplifies servant leadership as modeled by Jesus Christ

• Commitment to discipleship,prayerand Bible Study

Education:

• High school diploma, college training or equivalent.

Professional:

• Shall be no younger than 21 years of age

• Has the ability to relate to children andadults. There must be present the motivation and desire to learn and develop appropriatechild careskills

• Must present a sound state of emotional health and show medical proof of sound physical health as required by State Licensing Standards

• Must have references attesting to the persons’ capability to perform the duties for which they are employed and the ability to work with and around children

• Must hold or obtain a validdriverslicensefor the state in which they are hiredand have an acceptable driving record

• A compassion and love for children motivated through theWord of God(James 1:27)

Preferred:

• Understanding of and experience with children in the foster care system and knowledge of trauma and other related emotional and mental health needs
