Job summary

CrossReach is seeking a dedicated Handyperson on a relief basis to join our team. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will help keep our building safe, well-maintained, and fully operational for service users, staff, and visitors, creating a welcoming environment.

Ideal candidates will have basic maintenance, DIY, or repair skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to work independently while communicating with contractors and management. Full training will be provided; PVG checks are required.

  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks.

  • Escort and support contractors and tradespeople on-site.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues and recommend work.
  • Participate in mandatory health and safety training and comply with policies.
  • Support upkeep and presentation of the premises.

Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and resourceful Handyperson to join our team on a relief basis. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will play an important role in ensuring our building is safe, well-maintained, and fully operational. Your work will help create a comfortable and welcoming environment for the people who use our services, as well as for staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance task.
  • Assist with moving furniture and equipment in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to property maintenance and repairs.
  • Escort and support contractors and tradespeople while they are working on-site.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues, recommending any work that may be required.
  • Participate in mandatory health and safety training and comply with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Support the overall upkeep and presentation of the premises.
About You

The ideal candidate will be practical, reliable, and proactive, with a positive approach to problem-solving. You will be comfortable working independently and communicating effectively with colleagues, contractors, and management.

You Should Have
  • Basic maintenance, DIY, or repair skills.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Basic computer skills to complete mandatory e-learning and record-keeping requirements.
  • An understanding of the importance of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or similar role would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
