Job summary

Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency in Elk Grove Village, IL seeks a Relief Certified Veterinary Technician to join its ER/ICU team. This relief role emphasizes high-quality critical care and mentorship within a collaborative hospital setting.

The position offers flexible scheduling with a minimum of one shift per month and opportunities to gain experience across emergency and ICU cases within Thrive Pet Healthcare’s national network.

Qualifications

• Emergency/ICU experience required or highly preferred.
• Strong anesthesia, triage, surgery assistance, and nursing care skills.
• Knowledge of infectious disease, CPR, and critical patient monitoring.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to maintain calm in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critical and emergency patients.
• Triage incoming cases and assist with stabilization and monitoring.
• Perform advanced anesthesia induction and monitoring during procedures.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, oxygen therapy, and post-op care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Support clients with clear, compassionate communication.
