Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: A Relief Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. Additionally, a Relief Driver – CDL (B) must ensure their vehicle complies with the Company’s safety standards before operation, adhere to all company, state, and federal regulations during operation, and complete daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to facilitate timely repairs.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls, and report safety issues.
  2. Safely operate the truck along designated routes to disposal sites, following route sheets and maps, and service each customer as assigned.
  3. Operate controls to lift, load, operate the compactor, and dispose of waste at designated facilities.
  4. Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure timely and professional service.
  5. Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers according to departmental procedures.
  6. Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and clean up around waste spills, following safety standards.
  7. Maintain vehicle readiness by monitoring its condition and cleaning waste from the truck and packer blade as needed.
  8. Complete route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other required reports.
  9. Adhere to productivity standards and safety policies, and participate in the ReSOP program.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Adherence to company policies and safety standards.
  • Pride in work and goal-oriented attitude.
  • Preferably, two years of experience driving commercial trucks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
