Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists in Hoffman Estates, IL, is seeking a Relief Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency and Critical Care team. You will participate in rounds, assist DVM and nursing staff, and manage critical cases with a focus on high-quality patient care.

The role requires strong technical skills (CVT preferred or eligible), experience in critical care settings, and the ability to educate clients during discharges.

Qualifications

• CVT credential or eligibility; CVT students preferred.
• Proficient basic and advanced technician skills (phlebotomy, radiographs, diagnostic sampling).
• Experience with induction/monitoring sedation or anesthesia; critical care procedures helpful.

Responsibilities

• Attend hospital rounds.
• Obtain morning diagnostics with nursing team.
• Support DVM and nursing team with patient updates for owners.
• Assist nursing team with patient treatments.
• Facilitate treatments and hospitalization of outpatient cases.
• Perform client education, discharges, and follow-up inquiries.
• Assist with recheck exams, diagnostics and medical history.
• Monitor and assist with anesthetic procedures and critical care patients.
• Monitor inventory for ICU; prepare estimates and discuss with clients.
