Job summary

Kids for the Future in Decorah, IA seeks a full-time delivery driver to ensure safe, timely, and efficient delivery of building materials. You will build relationships with customers, drive compliant with DOT rules, and verify loads before dispatch.

The role requires pre-employment screening and the ability to handle physical tasks. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment safety, performing inspections, and keeping the yard organized.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing comprehension and math skills required.
• Must consent to MVR check.
• Must have successful completion of a pre-employment physical test.
• Must have a pleasing personality and cooperative attitude.
• Lifting up to 35 pounds, 70lbs occasionally and the ability to bend and twist in awkward positions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain effective relationships between the company and the customer to help grow our business
• Driving a vehicle in compliance with safety and DOT regulations
• Check load to ensure it is properly secured and the correct material and amount of material is being delivered before leaving the yard
• Perform pre-trip, enroute and post-trip inspections on equipment. Ensure equipment defects are reported immediately
• When required, unload and load trailer, either with or without assistance of dockworkers, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment
• Provide a positive representation of the company by demonstrating safe, responsible driving practices. Operate company vehicle in a safe manner by applying knowledge and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight loading dock areas
• Keep lumber yard clean, well-organized and safe
