Job summary

DMR Adventures is seeking a part-time, reliable driver for the YAS! after-school program in Charlottesville. You will transport students from local schools to program locations, ensuring safe, on-time arrivals and maintaining a calm, kid-friendly environment.

The role requires a valid license, a strong driving record, and consistent weekday availability. Pay ranges from $16–$20 per hour with roughly 1½ hours of daily work while schools are in session.

Responsibilities

• Pick up students from local schools.
• Transport students safely to DMR Adventures locations.
• Operate a passenger car or van safely and responsibly.
• Arrive before dismissal/pickup time.
• Follow routes, pickup procedures and schedules.
• Confirm correct students are present before departing.
• Maintain pickup/attendance information.
• Ensure seat belts are used and safety rules followed.
• Maintain calm, respectful environment in vehicle.
• Communicate with students, school staff and DMR Adventures staff.
• Report delays, absences, route or vehicle concerns promptly.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks.
• Check vehicle after each route for left-behind items.
• Keep vehicle reasonably clean and report maintenance/safety concerns.
• Follow traffic laws; avoid phone use while driving.
• Protect confidential student information.
