Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Knoxville, TN is hiring a Reliability Technician on the night shift. You will execute maintenance tasks, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and keep production downtime to a minimum.

Responsibilities include following safety policies, performing preventive maintenance, and collaborating with production and maintenance teams to ensure safe, reliable operation of plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic industrial systems, their function and repair.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with welding and working with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to multi-task and work with cross functional teams.

The Opportunity:

• Execute job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Compliance with Safety policies and Safety expectations.
• Each person, regardless of role or position, is responsible for Food Packaging Safety and Quality and GMP.
• Report any issue or event that poses a risk to employee safety, the environment and facilities, or food packaging safety and quality.
• Ensure that a safe workplace is always maintained and that the habits and practices of every employee hold safety as the top priority.
• Create and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Compliance of all employees and processes with all food safety and quality regulations (SQF, HACCP) as well as ISO regulations.
• Maintain and/or repair all Plant equipment to keep them working in a safe and efficient manner.
• Work with production and maintenance team to achieve quality products and maintain production on all equipment.
• Install new and upgraded equipment as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair all equipment to keep production going in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory to identify parts and new parts to prevent minimum breakdown or machine downtime.
• Perform preventive and operational maintenance to ensure a functional and safe environment.
• Assess upset conditions and react in a safe and appropriate way to correct condition.
• Keep area in specs within all 5S requirements.
• Work in a fast-paced environment. Complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities, corrective actions, plant/corporate safety events, and training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic industrial systems, their function, and their repair.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with welding and working with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Must be multi-task oriented.
• Ability to work with cross functional teams.
