Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America is seeking a maintenance engineering professional to support the mill by resolving maintenance, technical, and equipment reliability issues. You will establish safe work practices, enforce mill rules, and plan staffing for mill and contract employees while evaluating hourly personnel performance.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in mechanical or metallurgical engineering with 2–3 years in an industrial manufacturing setting (pulp and paper experience preferred) and

  • BS degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering with 2-3 years' experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; pulp and paper experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, delegate, analyze problems and facilitate in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function and contribute within a team.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Willingness to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

  • Schedule and supervise mill and contract employees as required.
  • Evaluate the performance of hourly personnel under supervision.
  • Maintain equipment files and databases.
  • Understand equipment operation to determine preventive and predictive maintenance needs.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance procedures to ensure equipment availability.
  • Collaborate with peers to maintain equipment and achieve uptime goals.
