Job summary

Aerodyne Industries is seeking an RMA Engineer to support the COSMOS NASA contract at Johnson Space Center, Houston. You will work with engineers to analyze requirements, apply RMA methods, and help ensure mission systems availability and reliability.

The role involves modeling, documentation, data analysis, and collaboration with government and contractor personnel to deliver robust spaceflight support. Must be able to obtain NASA credentials and work on-site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in CS or AE or similar technical field with 0–5 years related experience.
• Ability to obtain NASA PIV badge for NASA credentials.
• Strong understanding of RMA concepts, techniques, and tools.
• Knowledge of NASA JSC MCC, MTC, and SVMF subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate design changes to NASA Johnson Space Center's Mission Control Center (MCC), Backup Control Center (BCC), Mission Training Center (MTC), and Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF).
• Analyze user requirements, user stories, and operations concepts with customers and engineers.
• Apply RMA analysis to propose technical solutions for engineering problems.
• Support generation and analysis of system availability metrics for Mission Systems facilities.
• Build and maintain RMA models and related diagrams.
• Create/update documentation for design and change instruments.
• Perform data processing, reduction, and data mining.
• Translate customer requirements into hardware/software specifications via trade studies and requirements allocation.

Job Description

This role is as a Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) Engineer in support of the Systems Engineering Department for the Contract for Organizing Spaceflight Mission Operations and Systems (COSMOS), which is NASA's next-generation mission operations contract located on-site at Johnson Space Center. COSMOS ensures the continuity of critical human spaceflight support by providing mission control services, advanced training systems, and full-scale spacecraft mockups for astronaut preparation and engineering analysis.

Description of Duties

The Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) engineer facilitates design changes to NASA Johnson Space Center's Mission Control Center (MCC), Backup Control Center (BCC), Mission Training Center (MTC), and Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work with customers, users, and engineers to effectively analyze user requirements, user stories, and operations concepts,
• Apply RMA analysis techniques to recommend RMA-based technical solutions to engineering problems,
• Support the generation and the analysis of system availability metrics for the Mission Systems facilities,
• Build and maintain RMA models and associated block diagrams,
• Create and/or update documentation for design and change instruments,
• Perform post data processing, post data reduction, and data mining,
• Perform system analysis, assessments, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications,
• Develop RMA related inputs to requests for proposal and evaluate proposal responses,
• Contribute to systems architecture design and system integration efforts,
• Provide RMA support to the implementing organizations and external customers,
• Work effectively in a team setting to develop collaborative ideas.

Job Requirements

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar technical degree plus 0-5 years of related experience.

• Must be able to obtain a NASA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Badge for NASA credentials.
