Job summary

First Solar Inc. is seeking a Reliability Lab Technician to perform baseline and post-test measurements in the Reliability Lab, supporting engineers and qualification programs.

The role requires handling test equipment, data entry, and adherence to safety standards in a high-exposure outdoor environment. Ideal candidates will have a technical background in electrical disciplines, experience with lab environments, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Basic ability to use tools and operating equipment
• Ability to learn basic operation of simulators
• Must be able to operate a forklift
• Must have good glass handling skills
• Must possess good communication skills
• Must follow work instructions and directions
• Must be motivated to work independently
• Must demonstrate problem solving when faults occur
• Must analyze data to verify proper test execution
• Must analyze data to determine results vs. control plan
• Must follow OCAP steps if module out of spec
• Must select and run correct test recipes across tools
• Must locate module in test plan and determine measurements
• Must stay organized and maintain clean/work area
• Experience with electrical test/measurement equipment desired
• Proven communication and attention to detail
• Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SQL a plus)
• Team player
• Experience with measuring tools (micrometers, multimeters, power supplies, data loggers)
• Ensure hazardous waste containers are properly managed
• Ensure waste materials discarded correctly

Responsibilities

• Perform baseline and post-test measurements for standard Reliability tests
• Safely load and operate standard Reliability Stress Test equipment
• Process warranty returns
• Enter data for Reliability testing
• Ensure all tests and measurements meet the schedule
• Communicate any abnormal findings immediately
• Willing to work long hours and weekends to support testing
• Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping
• Assist supervisor with other tasks
• Train new technicians in module testing and handling
• Deliver quality test results with efficient methods
• Identify durability/stability defects and communicate findings
• Identify when tests are run incorrectly and propose root cause actions
• Perform other duties as assigned
