Job summary

Metallus is seeking a Reliability/Data Analyst to support equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and asset performance across our Canton steel manufacturing operations. You will collect and analyze performance data, participate in reliability programs, and help with failure analysis and preventive maintenance optimization.

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of reliability engineering concepts and maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems; Maximo preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Exposure to root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and reliability best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and analyze equipment performance and maintenance data from systems such as Maximo, production databases, and process control systems.
  • Assist in identifying reliability improvement opportunities through data analysis and equipment performance reviews.
  • Support equipment failure investigations by gathering information from maintenance records, operating data, inspections, and team interviews.
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities and help develop corrective action recommendations to prevent recurring failures.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability.
  • Support maintenance task reviews and help evaluate equipment maintenance requirements based on equipment history and operating conditions.
  • Help track reliability and maintenance performance metrics such as downtime, MTBF, and MTTR.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on reducing equipment downtime and improving maintenance effectiveness.
  • Assist in reviewing equipment designs and capital projects to identify reliability and maintainability considerations.
  • Support spare parts optimization efforts through data collection and analysis of equipment criticality, usage, and lead times.
  • Work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering personnel to identify and implement reliability improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of analyses, recommendations, and improvement activities.

Purpose and Scope

This position supports efforts to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and asset performance across manufacturing operations. This position works with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to collect and analyze equipment performance data, participate in reliability improvement initiatives, and assist with failure analysis and preventive maintenance optimization. Steel manufacturing is an asset-intensive business where equipment condition directly affects associate safety, environmental compliance, product quality, production throughput, and manufacturing costs. This position helps support asset management strategies by contributing to reliability programs and continuous improvement efforts that increase equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs.

Preferred Qualifications


  • High School diploma with 7 years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or reliability.

  • Associate's Degree in a technical field with 4years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or reliability.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field with 2years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or reliability.
