Job summary

Abbott Diabetes Care is hiring a Reliability Engineer II in Alameda, CA. This role combines deep electrical engineering expertise with software development principles and project management to improve product reliability and quality, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

This onsite position collaborates with hardware and software teams to drive robust solutions. The engineer will lead investigations, manage projects, and mentor teams while liaising with vendors and internal design

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field or equivalent.
5 years in product engineering or medical devices.
Experience in failure analysis and reliability investigations.
Experience with CAPA and nonconforming investigations.
Knowledge of embedded systems and electrical design.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed failure analysis investigations on returned ADC products, including hardware and embedded software.
Lead and support medium-sized projects with project management methods.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address reliability issues in hardware and software.
Conduct sustaining activities: process improvements, tooling updates, and software reliability enhancements.
Analyze quality records and reports to recommend improvements.
Document reliability issues and performance metrics for management review.
Provide technical guidance to engineers in the lab and mentor on HW/SW integration.
