Job description

Job Summary

The Reliability Engineer II position builds upon foundational reliability engineering responsibilities, taking greater ownership of specific reliability and maintenance programs. This role independently leads initiatives to optimize machine operating time, improve uptime and reliability, and reduce the failure rate of equipment and machinery. The engineer also focuses on optimizing equipment maintainability, extending equipment life, and introducing engineering solutions that improve operator effectiveness and expedite maintenance services. Beyond technical functions, this individual performs advanced engineering and specialist functions within the maintenance department, working collaboratively with Maintenance and Operations to achieve long‑term reliability goals and reduce overall operational costs.

Essential Duties
  • Promotes a safe and clean work environment where safety is the highest priority.
  • Manages a Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process, including weekly downtime reporting and monthly FRACAS meetings with action plans for high downtime assets affecting OEE.
  • Manages preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including PM Optimization reviews, criticality assessments, predictive routes, NDT, and precision maintenance best practices.
  • Manages the lubrication process to improve OEE of critical assets, developing action plans for improving machine lubrication practices, and maintaining a lubrication sampling program.
  • Manages the machine lubrication technician position and audit program performance.
  • Develops annual and five‑year workforce development plans.
  • Maintains and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.
  • Audits maintenance practices and implements changes to improve performance.
  • Develops, maintains, and documents workflows for maintenance processes (e.g., work request, work orders, planning, scheduling, purchase requisitions, work order completion).
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 2+ years of industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in a continuous manufacturing process.
  • 2+ years of plant maintenance experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance and reliability improvement.
  • Ability to be certified in Level 1 Thermography, Vibration Analysis 1, and Machinery Lubrication Technician 1 within two years of employment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, lubrication.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, non‑destructive testing, and laser alignment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, schematics, P&IDS and equipment manuals.
  • Experience with a CMMS, Maximo preferred.
  • Knowledge of probability and statistical modeling, and predictive reliability tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, prioritize, and execute plans to deliver results on multiple projects.
  • Small capital project management skills.

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of CMMS/Inventory Management software.
  • Intermediate proficiency in G Suite.
  • Small to medium capital project management capability (less than 50k budget).
  • Knowledge of probability and statistical modeling and predictive reliability tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools and techniques used in oil analysis, thermography, and ultrasound.
  • Knowledge of reliability‑centered maintenance analysis processes, including asset criticality assessments, FMEA, and PM optimization.
  • Knowledge of precision maintenance technologies for assembling and maintaining machinery to tight tolerances.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow machine blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and maintenance SOPs.
  • Awareness of operational processes and how maintenance activities impact them.
  • Familiar with standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
Physical Demands

Stationary position; occasionally moves/treks; frequently stationary and seated. Requires lifting, carrying, operating machinery, and repetitive motions. Exposure to extreme cold, heat, humidity, wet conditions, noise, vibration, and temperature changes. Requires the ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach at all times.

Travel Requirements

Travel up to 20% of the time.

Salary

Base salary range: $72,000–$99,000.
