Job summary

Milwaukee Tool in Brookfield, WI seeks a Reliability Engineer to join the Battery System Reliability team. You will work with cross-functional teams to bring energized power tool products to market and ensure superior reliability.

Responsibilities include developing tests, performing DOE and life-data analysis, and collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing to optimize quality. 10% travel may be required; ASQ CRE is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent field.
  • 1–3 years in reliability, quality, test, or process engineering.
  • Experience with new product commercialization emphasizing design, manufacturing, quality, test or reliability.
  • Experience leading a primary function within a project team.
  • DOE, life data analysis and related statistical tools (Minitab, Reliasoft).
  • Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
  • ASQ CRE or ability to achieve certification preferred.
  • DFSS or Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of power electronics, PCBA fabrication, and reliability test methods.
  • Familiarity with IEC, UL, UN safety standards relevant to energy storage products.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and lead teams to evaluate new product designs and changes with respect to reliability and warranty.
  • Define product specifications for reliability and quality test validation.
  • Optimize testing to shorten durations and support design decisions.
  • Lead Design and Manufacturing risk assessments during development.
  • Coordinate with global suppliers to improve component quality.
  • Track multiple projects to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Develop test plans and procedures to meet customer requirements.
  • Lead test laboratories and ensure best practices are used.
  • Apply statistical analysis to product data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Ensure timely failure reporting and implement root cause analyses and corrective actions.

Milwaukee Tool is looking for a Reliability EngineerIto be part of the Battery System Reliability team. This role willbe a vital part of the development of newenergized device productsthat willprovide power to the next generation of advancedpowertools.

As a reliability engineer, you will work with a cross-functional teamspanning design engineering, product marketing engineering,advanced manufacturing engineering,supplier quality, andfactory quality personnel to bring productsto market in afar pacedenvironment. This work environment requires the ability to quickly pivot, manage change,andanalyze test datato make sound judgements; all intheefforttocontinue to deliver the outstanding productsthat our customers demand from Milwaukee Tool.

Duties and Responsibilities
Product Development and Life Cycle Management
  • Collaborate and lead teams to evaluate new product designs and engineering changes with respect to product reliability, user requirements and warranty information

  • Coordinate with Engineering and Marketing to define product specifications required for all aspects of test validation for reliability and quality requirements.

  • Optimize product testing to shorten test durations, make concrete design decisions, and shorten the product development process.

  • Lead Risk Assessments (Design and Manufacturing) during the product development cycle

  • Collaborate with our Global suppliers to optimize the quality of the components that Milwaukee integrates into its product portfolio.

  • Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process.

Testing/Analysis
  • Develop test plans and procedures based on new or established products, to ensure product meets customer requirements

  • Lead test laboratories implementing test plans/procedures ensuring full test completion and best practices are utilized

  • Apply statistical analysis and reliability modeling, to analyze product data to draw conclusions, and communicate findings through reports and presentations that are concise, logical, and definitive.

  • Ensure timely failure reporting and lead root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA)

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of ScienceDegree in Engineering or educational equivalent field

  • 1-3 years of experience in reliability, quality, test, or process engineering environments.

  • Experience with new product commercialization processes emphasizing design, manufacturing, quality, test or reliability activities

  • Experience including training in quality engineering fundamentals and proven experience leading a primary function within a project team

  • Previous relevant experience with Design of Experiments, life data analysis, and other related statistical tools and software (i.e. Minitab, Reliasoft)

  • Written and verbal communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International)

  • Preferred: ASQ Reliability Engineering Certification (ASQ-CRE) or the ability and desire to achieve certification

  • Preferred: Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) or Six Sigma experience

  • Preferred: Working knowledge of power electronics design concepts, PCBA fabrication, and reliability test methods used in the electronics industry.

  • Preferred: Working knowledge of international safety standards and testing methods like IEC, UL, UN, etc relevant to energy storage products.
