Job summary

JLL is seeking a Reliability Engineer in San Diego to lead the execution of a comprehensive reliability program across building systems including lighting, HVAC, and utilities. You will evaluate asset criticality, implement predictive maintenance, and drive cost-effective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and lifecycle value.

The role requires 5+ years in engineering with RCFA and PdM experience, proficiency in Excel and MS tools, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with mechanical design/testing, international quality standards.
  • Experience w/ Root Cause Failure Analysis, Equipment Criticality Ranking, PM/PdM optimization, and/or Failure Modes and Effects.
  • Experience working with predictive maintenance technologies including, but not limited to, vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound and motor current analysis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and is responsible for the execution of reliability program.
  • Writes and maintains reliability maintenance strategy documents.
  • Rank assets' criticality using RC/M approaches and define proactive maintenance approaches that are cost-beneficial.
  • Identifies and implements predictive maintenance technologies and manages predictive maintenance equipment.
  • Administers programs such as Thermography, vibration analysis, lube oil analyst for the site and regionally.
  • Vendor selection, scheduling, analysis review, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Supports root cause investigations and follow-up monitoring for effectiveness.
  • Conducts program and system/equipment audits focusing on safety, regulatory compliance, maintenance effectiveness, cost savings, and energy conservation.
  • Participates in planning, design review, value management and construction document development of new facilities and renovations; supports utility distribution and business continuity planning.
  • Performs life-cycle financial modeling of developed technical solutions; constructs detailed proposals and draft bid documents.
  • Supports commissioning activities for upgrades, renovations, and construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain new Key Performance Indicators of equipment reliability.

Reliability Engineer - JLL
What this job involves:

This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive operational excellence in facility management. The Reliability Engineer will provide comprehensive engineering support for the implementation and maintenance of a reliability program. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to ensure safe operations, maximizing equipment reliability, and optimizing maintenance costs while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory compliance. The position also focuses on applying efficient technologies to various building systems-including lighting, HVAC, utilities, and power-to reduce operating costs. The Reliability Engineer will utilize advanced maintenance strategies and predictive technologies to optimize system performance, enhance lifecycle cost management, and improve return on investment. This multifaceted role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and innovative problem-solving to elevate facility performance and efficiency.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Leads and is responsible for the execution of reliability program.

  • Writes and maintains reliability maintenance strategy documents.

  • Responsible for ranking the criticality of the assets under their care, typically using Reliability Centered Maintenance approaches, and for defining the proactive maintenance approaches that are cost-beneficial to the business.

  • Identifies and implements predictive maintenance technologies. Manages predictive maintenance equipment.

  • Administers programs, such as Thermography, vibration analysis, lube oil analyst, for the site and regionally.

  • Administration may include vendor selection, program scooping/scheduling, analysis review, and corrective action follow-up.

  • Performs/supports operational event and equipment failure investigations to ensure that the root cause/causal factors have been identified, corrective actions prescribed, and follow-up monitoring conducted as applicable, to determine effectiveness

  • Conducts program and system/equipment audits on a periodic and as needed basis. Audits will generally be focused on safety, regulatory compliance, maintenance effectiveness, cost savings, and energy conservation.

  • Participates in the planning, design review, value management and construction document development of new facilities and renovations. Supports utility distribution, master planning, and business continuity planning.

  • Performs life-cycle financial modeling of developed technical solutions. Construct detailed technical proposals and draft bid documents.

  • Supports commissioning activities for all upgrade, renovation, and construction projects which may include, but are not limited to, PM job plans, reviews for maintainability, critical spares, documentation, etc.

  • Develop and maintain new "Key Performance Indicators" of equipment reliability

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with mechanical design/testing, international quality standards

  • Experience w/ Root Cause Failure Analysis, Equipment Criticality Ranking, PM/PdM optimization, and/or Failure Modes and Effects

  • Experience working with predictive maintenance technologies including, but not limited to, vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound and motor current analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or related field of discipline from an accredited institution

  • Previous experience working in facilities/plant management

  • Certified Plant Engineer or Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles applied to design, operation and maintenance of building structures and mechanical and electrical equipment for buildings

Estimated compensation for this position:

121,000.00 - 143,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
