Overview
The Reliability Engineer's main goal is to boost the reliability, availability, and performance of manufacturing equipment and facilities, ensuring smooth operations, cutting downtime, and boosting efficiency and profits. They proactively pinpoint potential failures or weaknesses and create strategies to prevent or lessen these issues, while assuring safety standards and regulatory compliance, including adherence to SQF (Safe Quality Food) requirements.
Responsibilities
- Asset Optimization – identify opportunities for improvement in reliability, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness of manufacturing equipment and facilities.
- Data Analysis – evaluate data from sensors, maintenance records and other sources to identify trends and patterns that may indicate potential reliability issues or opportunities for improvement, using advanced statistics and engineering mathematics.
- Failure & Root Cause – investigate root causes of failures to understand why they happened and how they can be prevented in the future.
- Asset Care Strategy – develop and improve proactive, predictive and preventive maintenance and tool strategy to ensure equipment is properly maintained and serviced to prevent unplanned downtime.
- Risk Assessment – assess potential risks associated with equipment failures and develop strategies to mitigate these risks, such as implementing redundancy measures or upgrading critical equipment.
- Collaboration – work closely with cross‑functional teams, including maintenance, operations, engineering, Environmental Health Safety and quality assurance to align on reliability goals and initiatives.
- Lifecycle Management – develop strategies for managing the lifecycle of manufacturing assets, including replacement, upgrades and decommissioning, to ensure optimal performance and cost‑effectiveness over time.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans and customer requirements, interpret and communicate customer requirements to plant production and support groups, establish and audit PCPs, CCPs and standard operating procedures, review incidents where procedures were not met and determine appropriate corrective action.
