Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer to join the Air Traffic Business Area, supporting FAA modernization efforts with SAFe Agile delivery and cloud‑native architectures. You will coordinate multiple teams, manage risks, and drive reliable software releases in a safety‑critical environment.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years of experience in technical leadership, strong SAFe experience, and the ability to obtain SF‑85P Public Trust. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related field with 8–12 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership role (e.g., Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master, Technical Lead).
• Experience leading Agile software development programs using SAFe, Scrum, or related frameworks.
• Experience coordinating software releases, build activities, and cross‑team dependencies within CI/CD environments.
• Working knowledge of SDLC practices and release management processes.
• Experience with GitLab or similar toolchains.
• Working knowledge of Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Experience with Java‑based applications and cloud‑native architectures (microservices, containers).
• Strong communication skills and ability to obtain SF‑85P Public Trust suitability; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile Release Train execution and maintain the release roadmap and build plan.
• Facilitate SAFe program events including Release Planning, Scrum of Scrums, Sprint Reviews, and retrospectives.
• Manage cross‑team dependencies, risks, and impediments with engineering leadership.
• Coordinate release and build readiness with Builds & Controls and related teams.
• Monitor program health using Agile metrics and release dashboards.
• Drive continuous improvement through root-cause analyses and automation opportunities.
• Oversee release readiness activities, defect management, and governance.
• Serve as a servant leader to coach Agile teams and enable high‑performing delivery.
