Summary:

The Release of Information Specialist III role validates and processes requests for Protected Health Information in accordance with organizational policies, HIPAA, State, and Federal regulations. This role serves as a subject matter expert for Release of Information and trains new users.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  1. Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related discipline preferred. Successful completion of a formal medical terminology course required.
  2. License/Certifications: RHIT or RHIA preferred.
  3. Experience: Three years of experience in Release of Information in a healthcare setting required. Previous EPIC or EMR experience preferred. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Release of Information Specialist II role.
