Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Release Manager to orchestrate and streamline software releases across development, testing, and production environments within the Enterprise CRM program. You will blend DevOps expertise with project management to ensure reliable, traceable deployments that support faculty, students, staff, and alumni.

Responsibilities cover release strategy, CI/CD automation, environment management, QA processes, and coordinated stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Strong background in software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Experience with both waterfall and agile development methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end software releases through production, including coordinating complex releases across multiple technical teams, applications or workstreams, and environments.
• Experience coordinating release activities across development, testing/UAT, staging, and production environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain release management strategy and roadmaps.
• Coordinate release schedules across multiple teams and projects and define criteria and workflows.
• Deploy and maintain enterprise DevOps services; enhance automation across CI/CD pipelines.
• Oversee development, testing, staging, and production environments and ensure configuration consistency.
• Establish code versioning best practices and manage deployment methodologies and go/no-go decisions.
• Coordinate with development, QA, operations, and business teams; provide release status updates to leadership.
