Job Description

The Media Group at NBCU supports a powerhouse collection of consumer‑first brands including Peacock, NBC, Bravo, NBC Sports, and NBCU International. With unequalled scale, our teams make the most out of every opportunity to collaborate and learn from one another. We’re always looking for ways to innovate faster, accelerate our growth and consistently offer the very best in consumer experience. But most of all, we’re backed by a culture of respect. We embrace authenticity and inspire people to thrive.

Our streaming video SDK is at the forefront of technology, leveraging modern video codecs, adaptive bitrate streaming, low‑latency streaming, and support for live streaming. We ensure seamless playback across various platforms, including web browsers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming media devices. This compatibility allows us to reach a wide audience and provide exceptional streaming experiences regardless of the device or operating system.

Video Player Technology team is looking for a Release Manager to own and evolve our release practices across the SDK portfolio. Join us as we scale our delivery capabilities to support well‑renowned brands such as Peacock, NOW, Sky Showtime, and more.

Your primary focus will be ensuring predictable, high‑quality releases through robust planning, clear communication, and strong cross‑team coordination. This is an excellent opportunity to shape how we deliver the core video solution that powers millions of streaming experiences daily. You will partner closely with Engineering Managers, GAE teams, and stakeholders to build release processes that enable speed without sacrificing quality.

What you’ll do
  • Own end‑to‑end release planning, scheduling releases for Qn+1 by mid‑Qn and maintaining the delivery roadmap.
  • Make go/no‑go decisions for releases based on defined readiness criteria, balancing quality and delivery commitments.
  • Hold Engineering Managers accountable to release dates, coordinating cross‑team dependencies and escalating risks early.
  • Define and continuously improve release processes, gates, and checkpoints that enable predictable delivery.
  • Communicate release schedules, scope, and changes to all stakeholders including GAE partners.
  • Coordinate with our global apps engineering team on deployment execution, environment readiness, and rollback planning.
  • Own release documentation including release notes, changelogs, and known issues.
  • Track and report on release health metrics, using data to drive process improvements.
  • Lead release retrospectives and ensure action items are tracked to completion.
  • Champion tools and process improvements that increase release predictability and reduce cycle time.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years’ experience in release management, program management, or technical project management within a software engineering organization.
  • A proven track record of coordinating releases across multiple teams, with specific examples of managing dependencies and holding teams accountable to delivery commitments.
  • Experience defining and enforcing release readiness criteria, including go/no‑go decision frameworks and quality gates.
  • Strong communication skills with evidence of managing stakeholder expectations, delivering difficult messages, and maintaining alignment across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process bottlenecks and implement improvements that measurably increased release predictability or reduced cycle time.
  • Experience with release tracking tools (e.g., Monday.com, Jira, or similar) and comfort maintaining roadmaps and dashboards.
What would set you apart
  • Experience with SDK or platform releases where downstream integration teams depend on your release quality and predictability.
  • Background in video streaming, media technology, or consumer device software where coordination spans multiple platforms release.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, enabling you to partner effectively with release/deployment teams.
  • Experience scaling release processes during organizational growth, including introducing new roles or restructuring release responsibilities.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
